Ministerial Internship Programme

our mip.

The Ministerial Internship Programme provides structured, hands-on ministry experience within a local church setting. MIP is designed to bridge the gap between theological study and practical pastoral leadership.

Overview

What is MIP?

The MIP places participants in a supervised internship within a local church, where they gain first-hand experience of pastoral ministry under the guidance of an experienced pastor. Interns develop practical competencies in preaching, teaching, pastoral care, administration and community outreach. The programme is an essential step for those preparing for full-time ministry.

Experience

What you will experience

Interns are embedded in the life of a local congregation, participating in all aspects of church ministry. This includes leading worship services, delivering sermons, conducting pastoral visits, supporting church administration and engaging with the wider community. Regular supervision sessions and reflective practice ensure continuous growth and development throughout the placement.

Eligibility

Who is it for?

MIP is intended for candidates who have completed or are completing their studies through CIMS and CAMS, and who are preparing for ordination or full-time pastoral ministry. Participants are typically recommended by their district superintendent or national leadership. The programme provides the practical grounding needed to transition from student to minister.

“I have enjoyed and have been challenged by the MIP programme. Learning from experienced tutors and networking with other ministers was particularly useful and provided valuable insights into how I can best serve the local congregation I currently pastor.”
