Our biblical courses provide a thorough grounding in Scripture, equipping students with the tools to read, interpret and teach the Bible with confidence. These courses form a core part of the CIMS programme.

Biblical Studies

Journey Through the Old Testament

A comprehensive survey of the Old Testament, exploring its historical context, literary genres, theological themes and enduring relevance for Christian life and ministry. Students engage with the narrative arc from creation to exile and return, developing a framework for understanding the Hebrew Scriptures.

Biblical Studies

A Journey Through the New Testament

This course surveys the New Testament from the Gospels through to Revelation, examining the life and teaching of Jesus, the birth of the early Church, the Pauline epistles and the apocalyptic literature. Students develop skills in reading the New Testament in its historical and theological context.

Biblical Studies

Introducing the Great Themes of Scripture

An exploration of the major theological themes that run through the entire Bible — creation, covenant, redemption, kingdom and restoration. This course helps students see the unity of Scripture and its overarching narrative, strengthening their ability to preach and teach thematically.

Rightly Dividing the Word

A foundational course in biblical hermeneutics and exegesis. Students learn principles for interpreting Scripture accurately and responsibly, examining different genres, literary devices and interpretive methods. Essential for anyone who teaches or preaches from the Bible.
