Youth Worker Roles for YA25.

Youth Academy, while a great time to socialise and meet new people – for youth workers as well as youth, as it is also a working weekend for us as youth workers, there are various roles and responsibilities that we will need to fill in order to ensure the success of the weekend. Listed below are the descriptions of the roles needed for this year’s youth academy.

Lodge Leader

The Lodge Leader is responsible for access to lodges (all lodges will be locked and unlocked at centrally specified times), organising the devotions on Saturday and
Sunday morning (more information regarding this will be relayed to the lodge leaders
directly) and overseeing the conduct in their lodge (maintaining 11pm lights out, own
room access only and reporting back to their respective head of lodge).

Please note: all lodge leaders must be at Whitemoor Lakes no later than 2pm on
Friday 24th October. Please bear this in mind when making your selections..

Team Leader

There are 6 teams this year and each team will need at least 1 male and 1 female team leader. The team leader is responsible for ensuring that their team know where they need to be and are engaged with team activities throughout the weekend. All youth workers will be allocated to a team and have the responsibility to work with the team leader to ensure young people are safe and engaged.

Night Shift Staff

The night shift is divided into three time periods – 23:00-01:30, 01:30-04:00 and
04:00-07:00. Specific timings will be decided between the night shift staff team, as
one might wish to do one time period on Friday night and a different time period on
Saturday night. Arrangements can be made for night staff to have time back in the day.
Night shift staff are expected to work on the Friday and Saturday night; however, the
more staff we have the less shifts staff will be expected to work.

Activities Support

This team will work together with the YA Planning team to ensure that all activities are enjoyable, run smoothly and young people are in the correct place during activities.

Pastoral Support Team

These individuals will provide pastoral support to all delegates, particularly the young people, throughout the weekend. They will work closely with and report to the Head of Pastoral care. We all have the responsibility to ensure that our young people are safe at all times, engaging with the activities, workshops and sessions and adhering to the YA Code of Conduct.
