In 2020 we held our first NTCG Kids virtual convention sessions. It was phenomenal, children from all around the country had the opportunity to take part. This year we want to to involve even MORE children. There are five different ways your child can get involved this year, some of them have limited spaces. In order to guarantee your child has the opportunity to take part it is important you read the information below and submit your video and audio files in the correct format, as soon as possible!

We will be holding zoom sessions this weekend to talk parents and youth workers through what you need to do to get your children involved in convention this year. The next two sessions are Sunday 13th June, 4pm-4.30pm and Monday 14th June 8pm - 8.30pm. Email NTCG.Kids.Choir@nullgmail.com or contact your youth worker for the zoom details.

1. NTCG Kids Virtual Choir

The choir will be singing two songs: Giants by Donald Lawrence and I know Who I Am by Sinach. If your child wants to sing as part of the choir, here's what you need to do!

  • 1. PREPARE - they will need:
    - one device to record video (MP4) of your child singing (e.g. camcorder, smartphone, tablet)
    - another device with headphones so they can listen and sing-a-along to the harmony guide - links below
    - a stand (or secure place) to keep the devices steady when recording
    - a copy of lyrics to help them with the words
  • 2. DEVICE SET UP
    - The device you're using to record the video needs to be landscape (horizontal)
    - The camera must be at the child's eye level and on a stand or sturdy surface
    - Record your child in front of a plain background (e.g. plain wall or door)
    - Ensure direct light is behind the camera (e.g. sunlight through a window)
  • 3. RECORDING VOCALS
    - Practice makes perfect! Listen to the harmony guide and practice until they feel comfortable to record.
    - Break down each section of the song to check they understand what they need to sing
    - before recording make sure they do a vocal warm up (Links to warm up video below)
    - Take regular breaks it's okay if they don't get it on their first try
    - Ensure devices are kept still whilst recording.
  • 4. RECORDING VIDEO (MP4 file)
    - colour code is red and black (they can wear that in any combination you have)
    - Ensure the room is well lit so we can see their face clearly
    - Your child's head, shoulders and waist need to be in the video (with some space around them)
    - Encourage your child to maintain eye contact with the camera as they sing.
    - Remember this is fun! It's okay for them to smile, have fun and dance a little!
If at first you don't succeed, try try try again!

It may take your child several attempts to get a video and audio recording you're both happy. If they're getting frustrated, take a break and come back to it later. We know they can do it with your help - trust us when they see the end result they will be glad they stuck with it!
